Can Children Under Stress Develop More Fever?

Can a child get a fever from stress? My daughter got a fever the day she started half day of junior kindergarten. She is 3.9years now 5 days later her twin is sick.. Must be coincidence. The first twins fever lasted only 9hours with no meds required. No other symptoms and usually fever lasts quite long for them..

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Yes, children are fragile and fevers (temporary and short-lived) can be triggered by stress. Please visit a doctor if the temperature lasts more than 3-4 days. Also, try to be there to support them and get them through at least the first few days.

Best wishes.
