Can Cholesterol Affect LFT Test Results?

I had lfts done with annual blood test. My ast was 42, alt 52 and cholesterol over 300. The doctor gave me Crestor and had another blood test in three months. The test results came back in range (ast 32 and alt 41). Can cholesterol effect lfts? Dis first test results indicate fatty liver? I did drink alcohol daily prior to getting first test results.

Hello,

Cholesterols affect the liver blood tests if it is surrounded with fat. Crestor if used for more than three months may affects them. I don’t think this is your case.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
