Can Coming Off From Smoking And Alcohol Help To Normalize BP?
Hello doctor, I noticed that my blood pressure is 166 / 90 when i checked recently, someone said u better bet start medication. But the fact is I'm drinking heavily everyday and smoke more than 2 packets cigerette a day, I decided to quit from today and continue my 30-40 minutes jogging and exercise every day, hope this helps. Shall I do this for a month and then decide on medication?
Hello Welcome to HCM. I think you are right in your decision. The healthy life style habbits can decrease the requirement of medicines. Cutting down alcohol and smoking, jogging and exercise will normalise your metabolism. You should also make some dietary modifications like cutting the salt intake and reducing the oily and junk foods in your diet. This might lessen your drug requirement. But keep checking your blood pressure every 3-4 days. Hope this helps. Thanks
