Can Common Cold Cause Swollen Lymph Nodes Around The Lungs?
Hello, my name is Diane! I was just diagnosed with having swollen lung lymph nodes. It was diagnose with an X-ray and a CAT scan.. My question is: can a common cold cause this? I did not have one at the time of the diagnosis, but I feel I am coming down with one now. I was told that I need to get a PET scan to determine the exact reason for this.. I have not had the PET scan yet. So there is not much I know.
Dear Diane, Hi & Welcome. Incomplete data like age, gender, purpose of doing chest x ray and CT scan, any medical illness or medications taken??
The chest x ray and CT scan findings of swollen lymph nodes around the lungs are suggestive of some chronic inflammatory or infectious conditions like tuberculosis.
Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) are usually due to some underlying chronic infection or inflammation, common cold does not cause lymphadenopathy.
Hope this answers your query.
