Can Complications During Pregnancy Cause Brain Stroke?

In my third trimester my urine was black every time I did a urine specimen. My OB/GYN, nurses or anyone else did not ever comment on that. After the baby was born we were severely jaundiced. In the last month or two of pregnancy I had severe right-sided pain and can only lay on my left side. We both had to go get treatments for Jaundice. 6 months I started getting and had a brain MRI. I never got the results. A few years later in 2005 I had an MRI of brain. I was diagnosed with an old Lacunar stroke, of the L basal ganglia. maybe my pregnancy caused that old stroke..

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The old lacunar infarct is suggestive of CNS lesion happened during the delivery itself, which may happen from alterations in blood pressure, CSF pressure, pituitary apoplexy or else.

* Kindly discuss the issue with treating neurologist or can provide me soft copies of the MRI for further guidelines in this matter.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
