Can Conception Be Delayed With History Of Having Depo Shot?
I took the depo shot this year april 2015, it was due June 10 but I decided not to get it again because my fiancé and I decided to have a baby for the past few weeks we ve been trying but I can t get pregnant. Is there anything I can do to get the depo out of my body faster? When am I going to stop spotting and have a regular period? It was only one shot I totally hate the shot. Can I please get an answer
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Each depo shot provides protection against pregnancy for up to 12 to 14 weeks, but the shot must be received once every 12 weeks to provide full protection. Birth control begins immediately after the first shot if given within the first five days of your menstrual period.
Since the effects could last longer, you need to stop taking Depo-Provera several months ahead of time if you plan to become pregnant. It is not possible to wear off the effects quickly. You need to wait patiently till your hormonal functions are restored to normal.
Once you gain your regular periods, it will be possible for you to start ovulating in time and increases the chances of conception. Hope the information provided will be useful All the best.
