Can Consuming Sugar Lead To Positive On Alcohol Detection Test?

Recently 5/23 I had a ua for alochol(they do ETG test), yesterday my counselor told me it came back"with numbers/it was positive" I was outraged, I haven't drank in ONE month. I absolutly did not admit to drinking because I have not had a SIP of anything! How can something come back as a FALSE positive? I had alot of sugar in my coffee that day? I told her to send it back to the lab, and if it is dirty again I dont know what im going to do. I might get a DNA sample done to make sure thats my urine. Please help me with this..I dont know how or why it would come back positive?

Depends a lot if you're diabetic. If you have a lot of sugar asa diabetic and the glucose goes into the urine, if the sample isn't processed very carefully, bacteria WILL grow and gum up the test. If they process the sample correctly BUT if the diabetes is far out of control that can also mess up some alcohol tests.
