Can Consumption Of Flomax Medicine Be Discontinued Temporarily?

I have a little dilemma. I need a refill Flomax and my pcp has abruptly closed his office due legal issue. I only have enough for the next 5 days. I have a appt with a new doctor on 12/3. Would it be alright if taken every other day until then when I have the prescription refiled.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Flomax is composed of 'Tamsulosin', which is a medication used to treat symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia and chronic prostatitis.

Tamsulosin oral capsule is used for long-term treatment. It comes with risks if you don't take it as prescribed.

If you stop taking this medication for several days, you need to speak to your doctor before starting it again.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
