Can Cortizone Cause Fluctuations In Glucose Level?
Yes, I am a 52 year old Black man who has type 2 Diabetes controlled...Until recently, like clockwork my glucose was in the mid-80's every morning upon rising. It was steadily in the low 100's...Now, it's fluctuating, I've seen an 88 once, then low 90's, and still some low 100's..The only thing different that I can think of is that I got 2 cortizone shots a week or so ago... Would cortizone be the culprit with a fluctuation like this?...

Cortisone can increase blood glucose levels temporarily(effect hours to days)and can alter the results of previously controlled blood glucose results but it is only short term and there is nothing to worry with your results as it is within the target. I would suggest to closely monitor your blood glucose for another two weeks especially the non fasting level ie. the two hour post meal level. If it is raised it is more indicative of cortisone induced rise.
