General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
As you mentioned that your son is having ASCARISIS ( ascaris worm ) .
The most effective drug for ascaris is " LEVAMISOLE " because it causes sustained contraction of somatic muscles of ascaris and is irreversible .
The dose is 2.5 -5 .0 mg/ kg body weight .
The side effects are nausea, vomiting abdominal pain , so you can give easily .
While albendazole is a broad spectrum benzimidazole .
In my opinion albendazole is not fit for children below 2 years .
However , different doctors have different opinion I may be wrong.
Good luck.
Levamisole can be given at any time.
