Can Dead Testicle Causing Pain After Prostectomy Be Removed?
Hello Dr. Grief, My husband had a total prostectomy that included cancer that had migrated to the bladder and one testicle. He is totally incontinent now going thru' 10-15 pull up disposable briefs in a 24 hr. period. The expense on a social security income only, is deveistating, but that is not the BIG PROBLEM! He is wheel chair bound and sits in a power chair all day (wet). His one remaining testicle is dead but they did not remove it. It now twists continually and pinches causing much pain and discomfort. Can it be removed? The scrotum has been bright red and sore for weeks now, and we are beginning to see skin and tissue break down, regardless of daily bathing, use of a Bidet after every trip to the toilet, barrier creams and powder. Can you advise us? Thank you!
Hi. Yes, the other testicle along with diseased skin must be removed as early as possible or the else the infection can spread widely. For the incontinence: He can be catheterized and kept under an antibiotic cover. A proper care of catheter can keep him dry.
