Can Deep Sex Cause Continuous Discharge From The Cervix?
I missed my birth control pill on a Tuesday, so I took it along with my Wednesdays pill on Wednesday. This caused me to spot a little. Then on Friday, I had unprotected sex and a couple hours after I started having a dark red/brownish color of blood. Not as heavy as a period, but enough to wear a panty liner. It s Sunday now, and I am still bleeding, but it s more brownish. The sex was very deep, so could it have been from my cervix being hit?
Thanks for your question. Any time a birth control pill is missed, there is the possibility of intermittent spotting or bleeding. The strength of the hormones used is much less than previously used so that going for more than 24 hours without birth control bill suppression may lead to this issue. It is important to remember that spotting during active birth control pill use may lead to less effective birth control for that cycle. Deep penetration during intercourse may also cause spotting in some women. Brown discoloration of menstrual blood indicates that the bleeding is not currently active and may be due to retained blood within the vagina that is released when arising from a supine position. In both of these cases, bleeding usually resolves spontaneously. Break through bleeding from missed birth control pills may take several days as hormone suppression balance is once again achieved. If you have further questions, I am available for consultation.
