Can Diamicron 50 Mg Be Taken Few Minutes Before Food?

I am sugur patient and have been prescribed diamicron 50 mg tablet i have to take two of this every a morning my pharmacist says it need to be taken 30 minutes before food. some time i don t remember to take pill until i am ready to eat so i take the medicine just few minutes before eating is it ok or that does not help at all
