Can Diuretics Cause Gout And Foul Smell Of Urine?

I have been on diuretics for quite some time to lower my BP. I recently have been having a lot of pain in the large joint of my big toe, which I think my possibly be gout. It is very tender & warm to the touch, Painful as well. I do have OA. I do not eat a lot of foods that raise my uric acid levels. I've drinking plenty of fluids like water. Is it possible for diuretics ( like Hydroclorathyazide) to cause gout and can they cause a strong odor to my urine?
