Can Double Jointed Knee Problems Be Treated?

im 22 yrs old and have had double jointed knees all my life. they always click and when i have done a days work standing in the shop they hurt. if i sit in the same position too long then they get really stiff. i want to know whether i can have them operated on as i cant carry on living like this.
