Can Dry Swallowing Dycyline Tablet Cause Any Side Effects?

Dry swallowed a dycyline tablet 4 days ago before I went to bed (yes I'm an idiot I know), it felt like it was stuck in my throat but I ignored it thinking it would find its way down. I woke up in the middle of the night with what felt like heart burn. The next day I had really painful heart burn. Since then it has become progressively more pain full in the chest to eat drink and swallow. At the moment there is a light constant pain behind my breastbone. What should I do?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain dry swallowing of the doxycycline tablet can lead to trauma to the food pipe mucosa while moving down and can lead to chest pain in the centre but in your case heartburn and pain behind the breast bone is seeming to be due to Acid reflux that is occurring due to hyperacidity that is commonly caused by antibiotics and it seems to be a cause in your case..
I would suggest you to start taking Pantoprazole or Omeprazole empty stomach in the morning till you are on antibiotics..
Take antacids like calcium carbonate half an hour before meals..
avoid spicy foods..
Take more of probiotics like Yoghurt in diet..
Drink plenty of cool water..
