General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Use of oral contraceptive pills on a long term would not affect fertility. Birth control pills are regarded to be safe as long-term contraceptive method.
Generally, fertility is regained within 1 month to 3 months once the birth control pills are discontinued.
If there is delay in conception even after 6 months after discontinuing the birth control pills, it needs to be investigated by considering the following:
1. Ultrasound scan of the abdomen.
2. Hormone levels of FSH, LH and Prolactin in blood.
3. Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to know the status of Fallopian tubes.
4. Semen analysis
Kindly consult Infertility specialist in this regard for proper evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
