Can Expired Lubricant Cause Infection?

Can expired lube cause some sort of infection? Me and my partner used lube last night and too late we saw that it was expired by two months. Since this morning I ve had an insistent itch in the area of my vaginal entrance and the urinal opening. How can I find quck relief?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Allergic reaction/contact dermatitis is more likely than an infection after use of expired products. You can apply vagisil anti-itch cream and take cetirizine 10 mg once daily to help relieve the irritation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
