Can Extra Dosage Of Warfarin Be Taken While BP Being 103/57 With Pulse Of 77?

my father takes his blood pressure medicines and warfarin at night, he took his medicines both last night and this morning, doubling up. We were told to not take the warfarin tonight. His blood pressure is 103/57, with a pulse of 77, was wondering if we should skip the blood pressure medicine tonight also?

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

I would like to highlight a very important information. Warfarin is NOT a medication used in reducing high blood pressure. It is a anticoagulant (blood thinner) that has to be used as prescribed by your doctor and with frequent evaluation of INR. If I understood well, beside medicines for hypertension, your father took also another dose of warfarin. The earliest changes in INR are typically seen 24 to 36 hours after administration of the dose, so regarding Warfarin I recommend to you to skip the today's dose (if he had it in the morning) and tomorrow to evaluate INR.

Regarding other medications that are for reducing high blood pressure, I recommend to measure blood pressure before the usual time of taking them. If it's low or slightly elevated, you can skip one dose or halve the usual dose, respectively.

I hope my answer was informative and helpful to you. Best regards.
