Can gallbladder attacks come and go? For a couple of months, I have been having symptoms that appear to be gallbladder. It started with severe pain under my right ribcage that lasted about five hours and I could barely walk. I would have nights where I would wake up with severe nausea that would last quite a while. About two weeks ago, I had a horrible a episode where I had been eating fast food because of my job for a few days in a row. I had nausea off and on about six hours or more, strange light color diarrhea, and the same pain under the right ribcage again...i also felt like I was ready to slip into a coma because I was so bone tired feeling. I had a full abdominal ultrasound which came back normal. Then I had a nuclear medicine scan of my gallbladder, which showed it is functioning 28 out of 39. I was told that I could get my gallbladder out and am scheduled for surgery in five days. I am hesitant because the surgeon did not seem to think my function was that far off, but given my symptoms and family history of gallbladder removals, he said I should just get it removed. My question is, since I ate bland for about a week, I feel fine. I experimented and ate greasy food and still am okay. Is that common to have periods of feeling okay????
