Short answer: Highly unlikely to be gallstones
Long answer:
Hi there,
It is unlikely that it is gallstones, because the
gallbladder is the one that stores and concentrates the bile, making it more likely to form stones there. Without the gallbladder, bile just flows freely from the liver out into the bowels, therefore not giving it much chance to stagnate and cause problems.
How long has your pain been? Have they considered something simple like
gastritis or ulcers? If they thought that the CT scan was non-conclusive, the next step might be an
endoscopy, where they put a camera into your stomach to look for ulcers or growths. They might also propose a
colonoscopy, since the CT scan showed possible
diverticulitis, which may be present at other areas even if not seen in the scan.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.
