Can Gardnerella Vaginalis Be Contracted Without Sexual Intercourse?

hi doctor, I need to know if gardnerella Vaginalis can be contracted without having sexual intercourse. i was diagnosed with it just now and i'm waiting for the prescription from my gyno. need to know in what other ways I can get GV except for sexual intercourse. I am sexually active. I also got a red bump on my inner thigh, is there a relation?
