Can Glucotrol And Onglyza Cause Muscle Aches And Numbness?
I have diabetes type 2. Been taking glucotrol and onglyza for about a month. No problems. Just a few days ago I began experiencing muscle aches (feet, ankles, legs, thighs, back, arms, and hands) Also, numbness and tingling on feet and hands. Also, weight gain. Can these drugs cause delayed side effects? I had none in the beginning.
Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Divakara's Response
HI Welcome to HCM
Numbness and tingling sensation in hands and feet are due to nerve damage that might have occurred due to Diabetes and not due to side effects of Medicines .
I advise you to get a Nerve Conduction Study of all 4 limbs which will prove the nerve damage and also shows the extent of damage .
As of weight gain it could be due to either Glucotrol ( high probability ) or onglyza ( low probability ). But most of the diabetic medicines cause weight gain . You can ask your doctor to remove Glucotrol and increase dose of onglyza or start GLP 1 agonists .
