Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 22 year old female. I have endometriosis which has effected my GI health in the past, but I recently had laparoscopic surgery to have the endometriosis removed and have been controlling it with hormone therapy. However, in the past week or so I ve had more frequent BMs which have been soft, not diarrhea but soft enough to give me chronic hemorrhoids. Last night I had some broccoli with dinner, and all day today I ve had bright green very sweet smelling stool. I realize it s normal for green vegetables like broccoli to turn stool green, but I thought food is supposed to take longer to go through the GI tract than overnight? I usually have a lot of spinach in my diet and that has never turned my stools green. Could this be a result of some endometriosis that isn t being regulated by the hormone treatment? Or do I need to see a GI specialist?
