Can Having Sex With A Person Who Is Under Medication For TB Cause Infection?

I had sex (including kissing, sleeping in the same room...staying in the same room for 14 hours) with a man that has an open tb. But is apparently declared non infectious since 3 weeks...he has been taking his medicine for two months now. How much danger am i in now...and my loved ones??? Thanx in advance. M.

Hi
Thanks for choosing HCM for your query.
If the man with whom you had sex and shared the same room for 14 hours is declared non infectious by the doctors ( like negative sputum for the bacteria responsible for TB on three differenct occasions , normal Chest xray, normal ESR) and absence of fever and cough then you need not have to worry.

If he happens to be in infective stage like open case of TB with all the symptoms of cough, fever, lab investigations, etc then you will have to take a course of antibiotic Isoniazide for a period of three months after undergoing skin test but this is not the case with the alleged man.

So, need not worry about it.

Best regards.
