Hi,

Yes, you are protected against pregnancy. If taken from the first day of menstrual cycle, the oral contraceptive pills like novelon are effective in preventing pregnancy straightway. However, if you start taking novelon pills on any other day of your cycle, the pill will take 7 days to work and to prevent pregnancy. Since you have started taking novelon pills from the 13th day of your menstrual cycle and had unprotected sex 13 days thereafter so you are protected from pregnancy. There is no need to take emergency pill.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
