Can High BP And Dilated LA Cause Inability To Train In A 70 Yr Old Athlete?
Hi I m a 70 year old male athlete. Recently I ve been diagnosed with high blood pressure. I am finding that I am now unable to train at my usual level without feeling acute axhaustion breathlesness and dizziness, Is this the likely cause of my problem or could it be something unrelated. A cardiologist has also diagnosed my heart as having a mild to moderately dilated LA.
Hypertension can cause exercise intolerance particularly in those who have exercise induced rise in BP beyond acceptable limits. It is useful to undergo exercise stress test to evaluate the cause for exercise intolerance.
