Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can High BP Be Related To Numbness In Lower Limbs?
Yesterday, at 3 pm, both of my kegs from my knee to my feet suddenly turned into jelly whiles I was in the bathroom. I tried To stand, but could not. I fell to the floor and lad there for about 20 minutes before I was able to stand and have a shower. I am 53, post menopausal and suffer from high blood pressure, obesity and under active thyroid. I also take anti-depressants. I want to know the possible reason for my collapse. I Felt no pain, just complete numbness of my lower limbs.
Hello and thank you for your question! Regarding your concern I would like to explain that your unpleasant situation in the bathroom seems to be compatible with a possible episodic blood pressure incompetence (that isarterial hypotension). You are under treatment for high blood pressure; and taking into account that are taking concomitantly anti-depressants (which by their side can aggravate orthostatic hypotension phenomena) these mechanism is the most reasonable explanation especially in a predisposing background like the bathroom. You are a postmenopausal woman, obese and with a lowered thyroid function which helps even more to the issue. Nevertheless before drawing conclusions I recommend you to perform a routine check up by your GP or internist for a more objective and live study of your body parameters. Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings from Dr. Iliri
