Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can High BP Cause Pain In The Chest And Neck Area?
Does having a high blood pressure cause pain in the chest area when climbing stairs? And does it also cause pain at the neck which eventually runs down the right arm making it unable and painful to move? Oh and its not for me, its for my friends mom.
Patients with high BP very likely have problems with the heart as well. Chest pain when climbing stairs might be due angina, a problem with the heart vessels that might lead to myocardial infarction if not diagnosed and treated properly.
So you mom's friend will need to have a check with the doctor and have examinations of the heart like ECG and heart ultrasound and some times stress tests to rule out problems with the vessels of the heart and risk for myocardial infarction.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
