Can High BP Medication Be Stopped Due To Having Weakness And Lightheadedness?

i have been on high blood pressure meds. I checked my self one day and had a 90/33. I quit taking them an just checked my pressure and it was 108/75. I am 59 years old, 148lbs. the reason i quit taking the meds is that i was always weak, and light headed. did i do a bad thing by not contacting my primary care before i quit taking meds? And is it possible I do not need high blood pressure meds. I use the VA for medical care and when I developed diabetise they put me on the meds.
