Can High SGPT Cause Hives?

high sgpt and hivesHello. My blood test shows that my sgpt is high (63). I've been having hives for a long time( almost 3 years). Can high sgpt cause hives? I also use minoxidil and finasteride for my hairloss, do these have anything to do with my problems?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are wobdering if high SGPT cause hives which seems to be due to allergic reaction and due to compromised immunity of body. There can be many trigger factors for hives like plants , cosmetics , soaps and detergents or some food . But elevated liver enzymes can also cause hives or itchy skin . I would suggest you to apply cold compresses to hives to reduce the itchiness and redness , apply petroleum jelly , prevent it fron direct sunlight , drink plenty of water and take over the counter antihistamine like zyrtec twice a day .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
