Can High Blood Pressure Be Reduced Without Taking Medication?

Hello, I am a 45 year old male that took my first dose of Ramipril. I run regularly and am in good physical shape. I was surprised to hear that my blood pressure was high. I believe I am somewhat of an anxious person and this may be the driver for my high blood pressure. I was prescribed 10mg a day (2 X 5mg). I don t want to be on these drugs for my whole life. I will take them if needed, but want to either reduce or eliminate. Is it reasonable to think that I can work toward either reducing or eliminating this drug? Thank you kindly…...

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The medication for high blood pressure should not be stopped without medical consultation. Make lifestyle modifications like exercise under medical supervision, light and low fatty food along with less salty food.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
