Dietitian & Nutritionist 's  Response
Excuse me, are you certain you have your numbers correctly? Did your doctor put you on a statin medication? I have not seen a patient with an LDL in the 400s. Do you have a copy of your total cholesterol and we could review the numbers together. And, you should see a dietitian right away. Since I don't know where you live I can't give you a more specific answer on what type of diet you should be on without knowing your blood sugars, lipid profile, current ht and wt . To answer your question "are you high righk for a heart attack?" Yes, you are. Like I said, if you were in my clinic I would send you back to your doctor with a request for your labs so I could suggest a statin if he hasn't already put you on one. Then if you need to lose wt and you are agreeable to that, wt. loss will help lower blood fats. Then, we need to talk about a realistic and achievable nutritional plan with education, meal plans, grocery lists, intensive behavioral counseling, individualized health goals set by you and coached by the dietitian who is also providing you some information and guidance. You are too young to let things crash down on you. Go back to your doctor and get on the right track. If you have any more questions, come back with your labs and medication and vitamins and an idea of what you are eating with specific questions and we will see if we can help you again~!
