Can High Fever Cause Brain Damage?
My son developed a fever staying around 100.9F to 101F. For the past two days. I have been giving him Tylenol and baths to cool him down but nothing is helping. He is lower legs are regular temperature but as you feel his upper legs the temperature gets warmer and warmer as you touch his upper body. His head is hot. He has vomitted once during this two day event. What should I do? He is one 1 year old and I know high fever can cause brain damage.

Brain damage from a fever generally will not occur unless the fever is over 107.6°F (42°C). Untreated fevers caused by infection will seldom go over 105°F (40.6°C) unless the child is overdressed or in a hot place. Febrile seizures do occur in some children.
