Can High Sugar Levels Cause Anxiety And High Pulse Rate?

Hi, can too much sugar cause a high pulse rate, with anxiety, anxiousness, and numbing of the hands? This individual is very underweight, male, 24 years old, and no facial hair. A complete blood work was performed within the last 6 months and the results primarily shown were unremarkable.

Hello,

Too much blood sugar can cause tachycardia, anxiety and numbness of hands if the person goes into diabetic ketoacidosis. But you have mentioned that his blood work up was unremarkable so I don't think it is due to high blood sugar. Sometimes an anxiety disorder can also lead to the above symptoms. I would advise you to get him checked by a psychiatrist to rule out that. If he is diagnosed to have an anxiety disorder then he may have to take anti anxiety drugs for a few months.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
