Can Hormonal Problems Cause Delayed Periods?

Had neg preg test, and blood showed no hcg lvl. However I'm 51 days since my last period. Is there something I should be worried about. Saw new dr who didnt seem to care, told me to wait 3 months but my mom was 34 when she started early menopause and I'm 32, also have lots of hormonal problems on moms' side
