Can Hormone Imbalance Cause Less Frequency Of Periods?
I am 15 years old and have had my period for almost 3 years, starting about 8 months ago, I began getting my period every other month. The first few times I thought it was just due to stress, but now it has been consistently coming every 2 months. The periods themselves are regular, just less frequent. Could it be a hormone imbalance? A thyroid problem? A problem with one of my ovaries? Should I tell my mom to make an appointment with my doc or do you think it is normal? Thanks.
I think you should get evaluated for delayed menstruation. If I were your treating physician I would have started with a thyroid function tests - which is the common cause, followed by the estimation of sex hormones, prolactin - depending on the clinical setting.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
