Can Hypothyroidism Cause Irregular Period?

I havnt had my period in months. My periods have always been this irregular. When I was on birth control they were very regular. Since being off birth control I havnt had a period. I was looking up causes, and found a few. Could it be abnormal vaginal bleeding or hypothyroidism?
