Can I Stop Amlodipine For Blood Pressure If Having Skin Rashes?

I have been taking blood pressure medication (IC Amlodipine 5/10 mg) I had a rash on my chest. The doctor said it was my prescription for blood pressure medication and sun. It has been 2 weeks and I have stayed around 100/75. Will there be any problems if I stay off the medication completely.

Hi welcome to HCM.
Drug induced rash is common with antihypertensives particularly calcium channel blockers like amlodipine. This rash usually subsides on its own.It does not need drug withdrawal. In certain cases drugs like levocetrizine like antihistaminic is all that is enough.Avoid sun exposure.Only if the rash is persistent o progressive, drug cessation is warranted.Your current blood pressure is well within the normal limits.Stopping medications can cause rebound elevation of blood pressure.Hence such a practice is strictly warranted without any expert medical advice.Consult your cardiologist for further queries.
Thank you.
