Can I Stop The Medication With Continued Weight Loss And Follow The Improved Health Food Plan?

I have had Type 2 Diabetes for three years and take 2 Metformin (500mg) twice a day. My recent (2 months ago) A1C was 6.1. I am a 55 yr old African American Femail and my height is 5'2" and currently weigh 187 lbs. I recently (7 weeks and counting) have adopted a low sodium, low fat diet and have lost 25 pounds. Is it possible to step down and eventually off the medication with continued weight loss and the improved health food plan? Your responsewill be most appreciated. Thank You!

Yes Madam,
It is definitely possible. I should first appreciate you for taking such positive concrete steps towards health. Please continue the good work and keep checking your sugars. The day is not far when you will be able to manage your diabetes with diet and exercise.
All the very best to you!
