Can I Undergo An Elective Surgery If Having A Mild Asthma?

I am having an elective surgery 8 days from now under general anesthesia. Problem is that i have a risedual dry cough from a recent flu. I have a mild asthma and i rarely use my inhaler but i used it these few days inorder to try and minimize the cough frequency with no luck . Do i have to postpone the surgery or shall i just wait until it resolves during the next week? Thanks.
