Can I Use Olive Oil To Loosen Any Wax From Ear?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...Ten days ago I had grommets put in both ears and a polyp removed from the right ear. I have a cold now a feeling a little blocked up and feeling quite uncomfortable in the right ear...can i use olive oil to loosen any wax as a procedure to make me more comfortable? Thanks

Hi,
Noted your history of grommets in both ears and polyp removed from right ear, has cold hence blockage of right ear feeling, wants to know if olive oil can be used to loosen any wax.
Since grommets were put in means there was or still is Eustachian tube blockage or dysfunction.
At the same time the feeling of blockage can be due to block of the grommet tube itself not allowing the aeration.
Since grommets were put in means the ears are clean and no wax is possible hence putting in olive oil is not a good idea as it may further cause blockage.
The best way is the consult your ENT Surgeon for proper evaluation, examination and treatment as per he cause found.
You can take decongestants orally or nasally.
Do not instill anything in the ears.
