Can I Use Spherical Lenses Instead Of Tauric Lenses? What Will Be The Power For Spherical Lenses?

hello doc...my left eye power is -5.50 D spherical and 1.00D cylindrical. I have tried tauric lenses but they are not comfertable. Is there any other option to use spherical lenses...because i have seen on internet taht by adding half the power of cylindrical i can use it. thes are my power of my glasses. Con u please tell me power for spherical lenses.

Hello,welcome to HCM
It appears that you have high power in your left eye only ,while the other should be better.
Since you have a good amount of cylinder ,toric contact lens is the choice,as it fits the curve of the cornea(central clear viewing area of eye)better
But some people cannot adjust to soft contact lenses as in your case.
So the next best alternative is semi-soft contact lens.this lens usually fits well with minimal problems.
This lens will be of -5.50D power to adjust for cylinder.
If you are older than 40 yrs you may require glasses for near when wearing lens (since eyes around 40 yrs start losing the adjusting capacity for near/reading
