Can Improper Insulin Injection Cause Any Side Effects?

Hi, my 17-year-old son just took his meal time dose of insulin and realized he forgot to prime his newly opened Novolog pen before taking his insulin. He took his shot in the subcu fat of his abdomen. I wanted to check if we should be concerned about the amount of air that he probably injected? Thank you.
