Can Indoor Mold Cause Shortness Of Breath?

Hi Dr. on January 2014 19th i was so short of breath,went to ER, on to be told there was no cause for sob,and cp. In march 2014 21st,went to ER, then taken to hospital. Next day test were taken only to be told i have CHF heart rate at 20%,however, mold was in my apartment,now about a year or more. Is it possible the mold may have been part of my diagnoses? I had to have a biventricular placed in may 2014 13th.

Hello,

Welcome to HCM and thank you for the query
I understand your concern.
You have a very low ejection fraction of 20%. This means that your heart is not able to pump out the blood well. As a result there is accumulation and back pressure into the lungs. When you have congestion and in extreme condition, fluid in the lungs you become breathless. The breathlessness will respond to medications to push the fluid out of your system or procedures to make your hart more efficient in pumping the blood.
The breathlessness due to mold is due to allergy and this is not to be considered as the cause, in presence of your heart condition.
