Can Inflammation Of Spine Cause Paralysis In Lower Limbs?
Hi,I am contacting you to get some suggestion from you about the problem of my father and about possible treatments related to the problem in Nimhans. He is 62 years old. He has been admitted to the neurology department of Peerless Hospital, kolkata since 5th Feb, 2011. The patient is suffering from paralysis of both the lower limbs. In the early morning of 4th, the patient suddenly felt severe pain in waist and legs. At first he was treated with a painkiller injection in a local hospital and he was moved to Peerless the next day. According to doctors, MRI report shows inflammation of spinal cord or a case of myelitis . The doctor has given 5 steroid injections and later steriod tablets. Now he is being treated with physiotherapy. I consulted with few doctors in kolkata but their opinions are different.. But the lower limbs still show complete paralysis with no improvement at all. Urination, defecation and sensation of lower limb are out of order. Please give me a suggestion.
