Can Insect Bite Cause Redness And Swelling That Extends From Forearm To The Elbow?

I was bitten by something 3 days ago while trimming shrubbery, on the underside of my mid forearm, the redness and swelling is getting a little larger each day. This evening there is a red streak starting to go up the middle of my inside forearm and is to my elbow, about 8 inches long.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have redness and swelling that extends from forearm to the elbow. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like burns, allergies arthritis , gout , lympadenopathy , infection or venous insufficiency . I would suggest you to apply warm compresses to arm , take antihistamine like zyrtec and keep it elevated while sleeping . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may will examine physically and order certain test like blood test and urine test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , allopurinol , diuretic and physical therapy .
