Can Coversyl 4 mg. cause weight gain. I have been more active since I have taken this drug and although I watch what I eat, take yoga, wear a health belt, walk almost every day, my weight is not going down, apart from starving myself I don t what else to do. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern about the weight gain.
Coversyl contains 'perindopril', which is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It is used to treat high blood pressure as it acts by relaxing blood vessels.
The usual side effects noted with the use of this drug include: dry cough, dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, headache, metallic taste in mouth, swelling of hands & feet and diarrhea.
Some people may experience side effects other than those listed above.
Although not known to cause weight gain, in your case could be due to the drug. Kindly consult your Physician in this regard and look what could be the cause for this, so that it can be treated accordingly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
