Can Intake Of Perocet Cause Blood In Stools And Urine?

I have been taking perocet for a year and a half and recently I have been pooping blood. A lot of blood, like the toilet is completely filled and sometimes when I wipe there are little clots. I do suffer from constipation, but could it be the acetaminophen in the perocet that could be causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to gastritis or a stomach ulcer. One of the common causes can be the use of Percocet. I suggest to stop using this medication. I also suggest to use a gastroprotector such as Omperazole 20 mg daily. If the symptoms continue, I suggest to to an endoscopy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
