Can Intake Of Birth Control Pill For Heavy Bleeding Cause Longer Periods?

Hi. I've had my period for 11 days now and I'm really concerned because it never lasted that long before I did just start birth control at the beginning of this cycle to help me because my flow is really heavy. But is this normal and when will it end?

Hi there.

Birth control pills usually regulate hormonal imbalance that cause heavy bleeding. Usually after stopping birth control pill, there is withdrawal bleeding which can be heavy. There is possibility of Endometriosis or Adenomyosis if the bleeding isn't controlled with Birth control. Take Tablet Meftal twice a day to control the bleeding. Keep well hydreated. Eat diet rich in fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables to avoid anaemia. Consult your Gynaecologist for the above possibilities.
